Happy Thanksgiving WHFC! Thought I would shoot you a little email before the holiday to give you a little sneak peak into this coming Sunday.WHFC is an elder led church. We have 7 elders…Doug Goodwin, Jim Sedlacek, Gary Smalley, Doug Hayter, Mike Gattis, Bill Rogers, and myself. I love these men and I am called to submit to the authority of this board. They are a blast to work with and I trust their leadership completely. You know why? Not one of these guys operates out of ego! I have served in churches for 13 years and I have seen just about every type of leader. The leader that stinks to high heaven is the one that wants his or her way above all else. These 6 guys love Woodland Hills and are committed to serving this local church. When they share their opinions in meetings it is done so with such grace and caution. They are 6 men who do not need their own way.
This Sunday I will be giving a message by request. Jim Sedlacek, our eldest elder, has a passion (and at times a slight frustration, love you Jim) for seeing men step up and lead in their homes and in the church. This is a burden of his heart and we have heard his plea. He has been gently hinting to a message challenging men to “Step up!” So this Sunday, at one of our elders request, I will be speaking on manhood in a message called Real Men.
BTW, don’t get any ideas about requesting messages in the future, but you can make any requests you wish for songs during our worship time. Teddy B would be happy to accommodate any and all requests…lol.
